Adding a Second Color Head allows the printing of two colors in a single pass. A revolutionary plate cylinder design allows "on-the-fly" vertical, horizontal and skew plate adjustments to provide unparalleled speed of make-ready and control throughout the print run. The ability to make adjustments without stopping the press is a valuable time saver in maintaining perfect register on two-color work.
The T-51 features a single lever that allows the unit to be placed into the printing position in one easy progression of the control lever. Removing the T-51 and returning it precisely back into place is easy thanks to the T-51 Swing-Away®. A rotating arm allows the entire unit to be either swung away from the press or into its normal operating position in about one minute. Replacement safety guarding is provided to ensure the press is protected when the T-51 is swung away.
The 16-roller ink/moisture system is designed for quality printing and features a steel ink fountain roller and different diameter form rollers and oscillators that significantly control ink recovery and coverage. The moisture system is supplied with the unique Townsend Aqua-Flow system – a segregated dampening unit which allows the form, oscillator, transfer and ductor rollers to carry both ink and water. This provides a three from roller system – two carry only ink while one carries both ink and water.
An infinite moisture control, improved water ductor mechanism and water ductor lockout are featured on the T-51. The water fountain roller has an infinitely variable adjuster which offers precise metering to match the individual needs of every printing job. For cleanup or when the T-51 is idling, the water ductor can be locked out.
The single-blanket principle ensures that both images are maintained in precise fit to each other.
